PLAYROOM DESIGNS

Posted by DSH on Thursday, August 07, 2008

These are tips for Kids Playroom Designs that might be very useful for you :
1. Understanding the function of Playroom.
Playroom can
give kids the opportunities they crave for active play on a daily basis. Here's where a "real" playroom can make a real difference. If you don't want to live with everything laminate for 20 years or have your nice furnishings at risk all the time, a playroom can really help keep the peace. A playroom should be a place for children to put their imaginations to work.

2. The Playroom space.
If a basement is your best bet, paint that old brown wood paneling a warm white, and put down a vinyl or porcelain tile floor. Install ample ceiling light fixtures for the size of your room (don't skimp) and use the latest advances in bulbs that mimic natural daylight. To get the benefit of real sunlight, a room over the garage is a smart alternative, as is the "bonus room" found in many of today's big new houses.

3. Protection for The Furnitures and Light Bulb
Basically to protect from the occasional football toss; easy-care flooring; and comfortable, movable, easy-to-clean furnishings. Plan different zones with wipe-clean flooring for messy play and softer floor coverings for active play and lounging around. Beanbag chairs and sectionals with washable slipcovers increase the comfort level; indulge in cheerful colors kids love. A workstation or desk with an ergonomic chair can extend the playroom's use for homework, but, even if you only need play surfaces, make sure all corners and edges are rounded for safety.

4. Get Ideas for Playroom decoration
# To help children keep their books and playthings visible, accessible and orderly, the right storage pieces can make a real difference.
#
A color scheme of bright white and primary hues boosts visibility and excitement. A color scheme, especially with rich hues, can also be the main element of a decorating idea.
#
Using lots of white on the ceiling provides visual relief from the bold hues. (Studies show most people are more comfortable in a room that's dark on the lower part, light on the top, to mimic the earth and sky.) Bright white around the windows maximizes the room's intake of light, further enhancing the feeling of balance.
#Most of a child's responses to color proportions won't be at a conscious level, but they'll enjoy spending time in a room that feels both exciting and comfortable.
The whole family will find the playroom exciting and comfortable when it's got snacks and games to offer.
#
Futuristic furniture delights the eye, while warm colors and traditional surfaces provide the necessary grounding.
#
The to-scale ice cream parlor mural is a masterpiece of trompe l'oeil, while a vintage Coke machine and full-size popcorn cart provide real snacks. Furniture has rounded corners in case all that floor space inspires some impromptu roughhousing. Designed for kids, this is a room the whole family can love.
#
Your child will be happy to help you come up with wacky and wonderful images that can come to life with today's nontraditional wallcoverings, borders, furnishings, and decorative accents galore.

Ready For Living Room Decorating

Posted by DSH on Sunday, March 18, 2007

When it comes to living room decorating there are many styles one can choose from. There are hundreds, if not thousands of options in terms of carpet alone. Maybe you want to go with hardwood, or be adventurous, and try stained concrete. Whatever the case, each element of a living room goes into the overall living room decorating plan that is set in motion when one moves into a home, or renovates his, or her living room.

The best way to implement a living room decorating concept is to research the purpose of the room. The purpose of your living room is for most a place of sanctuary, where one can kick back in the recliner, with a cold beverage, and enjoy a ball game, or movie. For others the living room can be a virtual office, in the days of wireless internet, and laptop computers, living room decorating must consider these things. Whatever the use is for your living room, try locating it before you do any living room decorating, in order to fully adorn the room with functional decorations.

A function decoration is one that serves a purpose beyond accenting a rooms looks. Some living room decorating experts utilize this on a daily basis. In fact, many interior decorators make this the fundamental premise behind all their work. A living room decorating plan that implements at least some functional elements will greatly assist those enjoying the room on a regular basis.

The most common functional elements found when living room decorating is occurring are old wood tables being used as desks, a piece of a sail boat converted into a coffee table, or even a fancy piece of art, that happens to be a clock. These are your common, run of the mill functional design elements. There are plenty of others worth a try as well.

One can utilize all types of materials to make functional design elements. For my living room I wanted an industrial look, so I went with metal as my core material. I was able to have a metal breakfast bar created for less than three thousand dollars. The bar is covered with a custom piece of glass, and adds a modern pop to any living room.

Your challenge is to find what you like to do in a living room, and try to incorporate it into your design. Once you do this, your living room will not only be beautiful, but also functional.
