Removing Wallpaper

Posted by DSH on Sunday, July 20, 2008

There are two methods for removing wallpaper. First, if you have a lot of wallpaper to remove then you can rent a steamer from an equipment rental center or home improvement store and steams is off. Covering your floor with a canvas (not plastic) drop cloth to catch the messy paper as it peels off. Ask your friend or relative to help you to peels off the loosened paper while you steam. Read the manufacturer's instructions on how to operate the steamers. You can ask the rental agent for a demonstration because they want their tools returned in good order and I'm sure they will happy to give you a lesson. Remember that steamer is hot, so you have to use good gloves when operating it and go slowly, especially in the beginning, learn the result and the rest of if you will find out which and how to get the best result as you get a feel for how your works.

Second, you can buy a scoring tool and remove it that way. This is time consuming and lot of work because you need to scoring, wiping downs, and peeling by hand, especially if you need to remove more than one layer of wallpaper. But it is still not a fast fix. You need to reserve a day for this project.
